Spirit Realm Hunter
Privacy
Last updated October 17, 2026
In short: the camera only works on your phone and its images are never uploaded. Your save file stays on your phone; a copy is kept on the server only if you sign in with Apple or Google and use the cloud save. Otherwise the server keeps only a few progress numbers plus what the leaderboard, the Spirit Realm feed and launch emails need. You can delete your account and all of this data from inside the game.
Camera and sensors
Camera frames are processed on your phone to guess what kind of place you're pointing at (dark corner, plants, water…) and to place the spirit in the scene. If you choose to take an AR snapshot, the game saves it on your device. This API does not receive camera images or videos.
Motion sensors are used on the device only, to keep spirits in place as you turn the phone. The current version does not use GPS location; if that ever changes, the game will ask for permission and this page will be updated first.
What the server stores
When the game goes online, the server stores:
- A guest device id and sign-in sessions. Existing installs may use a hash derived from an OS device identifier; other installs use a random id. The raw OS identifier is not sent. Knowing the saved guest id is sufficient to sign in, so keep it private. Session tokens are stored only as hashes; each account keeps at most its 5 most recent sessions.
- The display name and honorific (Master/Lady) you choose.
- Your merit, title and weekly merit ledger, for the leaderboard.
- Spirit Realm feed entries (bindings, releases, new titles, check-in streaks, level milestones) and kudos.
- A few progress numbers: your current and best check-in streak, quests completed, achievements, number of bindings and releases, how many spirits you've seen in the codex (out of the total), your spirit-sight level, your level and practice points, and the order you chose.
- If you sign in with Apple or Google: the account link and your cloud save (see the next section). Without signing in, your full save (bag, quests in progress, codex details…) stays on your phone only.
- Gift codes you have redeemed.
- Retry receipts for requests that supply stable IDs, including reward responses. These support safe retries; they are not a copy of your game save.
- Launch-update emails from this site, with the chosen language and where you signed up.
Sign in with Apple / Google and the cloud save
Signing in is optional; you can play everything with a guest account. When you choose “Sign in with Apple” or “Sign in with Google”, the game sends the server a sign-in token issued by Apple or Google. The server checks it against Apple's or Google's public keys (it only downloads those keys and sends them none of your data), then stores:
- The provider (Apple or Google) and the stable account identifier it issues for this game, used to recognise you when you sign in on another device.
- Your email address if the provider includes it. With Apple's “Hide My Email”, this is a random Apple relay address, not your real one. The email only helps identify your account if you ask for support; we never send marketing to it. The name Apple shares on first sign-in (if any) is only used as your initial display name and is not stored separately.
- When the account was linked and when you last signed in.
- Your cloud save, when the game backs it up: the full game save file (bag, bound spirits, codex, quests, in-game settings…), a short summary shown before restoring (for example level and spirits caught), the id of the device that wrote it last, a version number and the time it was updated. Each account keeps a single copy; a new backup replaces the old one.
What we don't collect
No images, no audio, no contacts, no location. We never receive your Apple or Google password. IP addresses are not stored in the player database; the server only uses them briefly to stop requests that come in too fast.
This website sets a single cookie, “lang”, to remember your language. No advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
Account data (including Apple / Google links and the cloud save) is kept until you delete your account; there is no automatic expiry. Unlinking Apple or Google in the game removes that link immediately; the cloud save stays but cannot be opened until you link again or delete your account. Launch-update emails are kept until you ask us to delete them.
Hiding from the boards
In the game's Settings, turn on the option to hide from the leaderboard. Your name will no longer appear on the leaderboard or the Spirit Realm feed; your merit still counts as usual.
Deleting your account and data
In the game: open the Account screen and choose to delete your account. The server immediately and permanently deletes the account and everything tied to it: sessions, Apple / Google links, the cloud save, progress, Spirit Realm feed entries and kudos, the merit ledger and redeemed gift codes. Your name disappears from the leaderboard and the feed right away. This cannot be undone; signing in again with the same Apple or Google account afterwards creates a brand-new account.
Stopping the game from using your Apple ID or Google account in Apple's or Google's account settings only removes sign-in access; it does not delete data on our server, so delete your account in the game first.
If you can no longer open the game (lost device, already uninstalled) or want your launch-update email removed, contact [email protected]. Account ownership must be verified; do not send your guest id or session token by email.
Uninstalling removes local data according to your device's storage and backup settings, but does not delete server records (including the cloud save).
